The ruling about working
in the Agricultural Insurance Fund

Question:

Is it permissible to work in the Agricultural Insurance Fund? May Allah reward you.

Answer:

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. Peace and blessing be upon whom Allah sent as a mercy to the Worlds, upon his Family, his Companions and his Brothers until the Day of Resurrection:

It is not permissible to work in the insurance companies inasmuch as insurance in all its types is associated with Gharar (uncertainty) and accompanied by other religious forbiddances as shown by the scholars in their books. Accordingly, the Council of Senior Scholars has unanimously agreed on the impermissibility of insurance in all its types, and it should not be overlooked that working therein is cooperation. However, in principle the brotherly cooperation should be based on righteousness and piety, according to the verse in which Allah عزّ وجلّ says:

﴿وَتَعَاوَنُواْ عَلَى ٱلۡبِرِّ وَٱلتَّقۡوَىٰۖ وَلَا تَعَاوَنُواْ عَلَى ٱلۡإِثۡمِ وَٱلۡعُدۡوَٰنِۚ ﴾ [المائدة: 2.[

The meaning of the verse:

﴾And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression﴿ [Al-Mâ’ida: 2].

The perfect knowledge belongs to Allah عزَّ وجلَّ; and our last prayer is all the praises and thanks are to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, and prayers of Allah are to Muhammad and his Family, Companions and Brothers until the Day of Resurrection.
