Means preventing temptations

The question:

What are the greatest means to stop up the ways to temptations?

The answer:

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. Peace and blessing be upon whom Allah sent as a mercy to the Worlds, upon his Family, his Companions and his Brothers till the Day of Resurrection.

Temptation is of two divisions: temptation of desires and temptation of ambiguities.

As for the temptation of desires, the means of stopping it up is by lowering the gaze from looking at forbidden things, avoiding mixing and seclusion with women and protecting the private parts from illegal sexual acts by fortifying it with marriage or fasting in order to narrow the ways of Satan.

As for the temptation of ambiguities: as regards the temptation of disbelief, it is compulsory to fight disbelief and all the means that lead to it with proof, clear evidence and persuasion according to need and ability.

As for the temptation of heresy, it is compulsory to know the reality of the people of heresy and to warn against them, to manifest the Sunna and show it to the Muslims and repress heresies with the rules that the sharia imposes.

As for the trouble that may happen between the people of the Sunna, certainly safety is better than anything else and not taking part in it is safer, unless the truth appears with the sharia evidences, then support and help are compulsory according to capability.

The perfect knowledge belongs to Allah عزَّ وجلَّ. Our last prayer is all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. Peace and blessing be upon our Prophet, his Family, his Companions and Brothers till the Day of Resurrection.
