Concerning the validity of using the expression “Jâblî Rabbî” (i.e. “My Lord has revealed to me…”)

Question:

What is the ruling regarding using the expression “Jâblî Rabbî”? May Allah reward you.

Answer:

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. Peace and blessing be upon whom Allah sent as a mercy to the Worlds, upon his Family, his Companions and his Brothers until the Day of Resurrection.

The expression “Jâblî Rabbî” -albeit the speaker means “what I think is…” or “It seems to me that …”- however it is, most likely, taken from the expressions of the Sufis who believe that among the sources of [the religious] knowledge is the direct revelation from Allah عزّ وجلّ. They used to say: “My heart reveals to me from my Lord…”; they claim to receive knowledge directly from Allah سبحانه وتعالى. For that reason, they rank the Sufi (the mystic) above the Prophet, because -according to them- the Prophet receives knowledge from the Angel who reveals to him unlike the Sufi who -according to their claim- receives knowledge directly from Allah by means of inspiration. And among the sources according to them, there is: hearing the speech of Allah سبحانه وتعالى or that of the angels or the righteous Jinn or one of the Awliyâ’ (Beloved) of Allah through invisible callers either while being awake or while sleeping or in between the two by means of the ear. It should not be overlooked that such deviation mingled with Indian, Greek and Monastic philosophies has defamed the beauty of Islam and the pureness of its Creed and impeded the Muslims’ progress. For that reason, it is incumbent upon the Muslim to be more cautious for his faith and avoid using such expressions.

The perfect knowledge belongs to Allah عزَّ وجلَّ; and our last prayer is all the praises and thanks are to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, and prayers of Allah are to Muhammad and his Family, Companions and Brothers until the Day of Resurrection.
