In the ruling concerning writing
the verses (of Quran) in ‘Uthmânî Script

Question:
Is it obligatory to write the Qur’anic verses in ‘Uthmânî Script(1) ? May Allah bless you.

Answer:
All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. Peace and blessing be upon whom Allah sent as a mercy to the Worlds, upon his Family, his Companions and his Brothers till the Day of Resurrection:

Writing the Qur’anic verses in ‘Uthmânî Script is obligatory according to the majority of scholars’ opinion which says that the ‘Uthmânî Script is Tawqîfî (unchangeable) and we must conform to it. This is the soundest of the three opinions of the scholars regarding this question.

And supposing that the ‘Uthmânî Script is Istilâhî (conventional) not Tawqîfî (unchangeable), it is religiously certain to adhere to its transmitted script particularly from the perspective of protecting the Revelation (i.e. the Glorious Quran).

The perfect knowledge belongs to Allah عزَّ وجلَّ. Our last prayer is all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. Peace and blessing be upon our Prophet, his Family, his Companions and Brothers till the Day of Resurrection.
