The ruling concerning delivering
a sermon at Al-‘Aqîqa [feast]

Question:

Is it permissible during Al-‘Aqîqa that a Sheikh or a preacher, who are present at the feast, preaches sermon? And may Allah reward you.

Answer:

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. Peace and blessing be upon whom Allah sent as a mercy to the Worlds, upon his Family, his Companions and his Brothers till the Day of Resurrection:

I neither know in the Sunna [of the Prophet صلَّى الله عليه وسلَّم] nor in the traditions [of the pious predecessors]any permissibility regarding preaching a sermon on the occasion of An-Naşîka. However, if the preacher comes across a situation that necessitates to deny a Bid‘a (a religious innovation), to clarify a religious ruling or to teach [an act of] Sunnah without having prepared it in advance specifically for the occasion, unless it happens on an ad hoc basis; so, in such a case there is no matter –if it is Allah’s Will- to deliver a sermon.

The perfect knowledge belongs to Allah عزَّ وجلَّ. Our last prayer is all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. Peace and blessing be upon our Prophet, his Family, his Companions and Brothers till the Day of Resurrection.
